What do we do?

We provide pre-construction assistance such as takeoff services, conflict identification in plans and specifications, and value engineering. By partnering with multiple vendors, we ensure our customers can select the most economical option that will match their project plans and specifications. Additionally, our company also assists job site personnel to ensure that delivery schedules are achieved.

Lumber and Timber

Matheus provides a wide range of dimensional lumber products, studs, and large timbers. Our lumber yards stock the most common sizes, from furring and trim materials, framing and structural lumber and large timbers. Through our large network of mills and suppliers, we can provide nearly any size of timbers, from utility to appearance grade products. We also offer many Precision End Trim (PET) stud lengths and can custom trim to customer specifications. 

Our dimensional lumber primarily consists of Western Woods, including Douglas Fir (DF), Douglas Fir - Larch (DF-L), Spruce Pine Fir (SPF) and Western Hemlock / Hemlock Fir (HF). These species are extremely strong and lightweight, suitable for framing, trusses, plate and many other uses. For trim, siding, decking and shingles, Western Red Cedar (WRC) and pine are available.

We offer a full range of finish options, including rough sawn and surfaced (S1S2E, S4S, etc.), as well as tongue and groove (T&G) and shiplap. Lumber can be pressure treated with Alkaline Copper Quaternary (ACQ), borate and other preservatives for outdoor, ground contact or high moisture applications, and can also be treated with fire retardant.

Sheathing and Siding

Matheus’s lumber yards stock a wide variety of sheathing and panels. Products include Oriented Strand Board (OSB), plywood (A through D grade), fiberglass gypsum (such as Densglass© and GlasRoc© products), and underlayment.

Common sizes range from ¼” to 1-⅛” thickness, and include square edge (SE) and Tongue and Groove (T&G) designs. As with our lumber, plywood products can be pressure treated with preservatives like ACQ as well as fire retardant.

Concrete Forms

Matheus stocks or can supply most types of concrete forms, which are Douglas fir veneers treated with water-based release agents. Popular products include Medium Density Overlay (MDO), High Density Overlay (HDO) and BBOES (B sides, Oiled and Edged Sealed). 

Glulams and Engineered Wood Products

As a mill direct distributor, Matheus provides most types of engineered wood products.

Glued Laminated Timber (glulam): extremely strong laminated beams that can be made specifically for many different applications including ridge and floor beams, headers, columns, arches, as well as bridges and industrial projects. These can be ordered as industrial grade or appearance grade.

Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) / Laminated Strand Lumber (LSL): often used in joist packages (flooring and rim), and for headers, this material is stronger than timbers and resists warping. It is available in a wide range of sizes and can be cut to order.

Species

Douglas-fir, hemlock, Southern Yellow Pine (SYP), Spruce-pine-fir, Western red cedar, redwood, and some hardwoods are available.

Wood Treatment

We have kiln-dried Hem-fir and Douglas-fir in grades from utility through structural; treatments available include fire-retardant, ACQ, and creosote (select markets).

Fire Retardant 

Interior & exterior fire retardant lumber, dimensional lumber, structural panel products & beams available upon request.

Multi-Family

Products include kiln-dried studs, pre-cut header packages, gypsum sheathing, OSB, and underlayment; all sizes of LVL, LSL, PSL, and I-joists. Also available are Western red cedar and primed whitewood in sidings, fascia, and trim.
